China is the largest producer and consumer of methanol in the world. It is also one of the leading markets for the consumption of methanol as a fuel in a variety of different applications. Generally, methanol is used to fuel mobility and heating applications in China. The market has years of experience in utilizing methanol as a land transport fuel with support from both provincial and national governments.
The land transport market has matured over the years and is projected to grow on the back of supportive government policy promoting M100 vehicles. Heating applications in the form of industrial boilers and cook stoves have also experienced significant growth in the last few years. The rapid adoption rate of these heating applications has led to higher consumption of methanol as a fuel in heating rather than mobility. This market is also slated for future growth. While much is heard about the Chinese methanol fuel market, it has to date remained largely opaque to observers.
Methanol Institute, Methanex, and the Chinese Association of Alcohol and Ether Fuels and Automobiles (CAAEFA) collaborated on the drafting of the Methanol Fuel in China 2020 report to shed light on the intricacies of the methanol fuel market in China.
This webinar will serve as the launch of the report which will be made available to all attendees during the webinar. The webinar will highlight key information about the Chinese methanol fuel market, and provide more insights on the where the market is today with projections about its future growth.
