– A meetingplace for companies with an interest of the Swedish bioenergy market!
Our goal is to increase the use of bioenergy, in an environmentally and economically sensible way, both in Sweden and globally. We are a commercial environmental organization for companies and individuals. We believe in renewable energy, companies and a free market economy. As a member of Svebio you become part of a national and international network of people working to create conditions for, and to develop, the bioenergy industry.
Svebio is a unique meeting place for everyone working with, or with an interest in, bioenergy.
Our members represent several industries; the agriculture and forestry sector, district heating, electricity production and other energy companies, the transport industry, construction and real estate, engineering, research and consultancy as well as private members.
The broad spectrum of members has contributed to Svebio’s present position as a trustworthy voice among decision-makers.
As a member you pay a membership fee to the Swedish Bioenergy Association (Svebio) and a service fee to Svebio’s subsidiary handling our services (Svenska Bioenergiföreningens Service AB). The size of the service fee varies with the size of the member’s bioenergy related turn over (see table on service fees in the Membership application form below).
The size of the fees depends on your bioenergy related turn-over.
Feel free to contact Svebio’s managing director Gustav Melin or our team regarding your membership.
Increasing the use of bioenergy in an environmentally and economically optimal way.
Our goal is to create better conditions for bioenergy and developing industry. We do this through our information activities, our magazine Bioenergi, our conferences and our newsletters.
Swedish bioenergy should be an international role model.
We are active members of AEBIOM (European Bioenergy Association) and WBA (World Bioenergy Association). We also operate within IEA Bioenergy, where we have received the Energy Authority to be the Swedish representative in two working groups: T40, global trade in biofuels, and T39, biofuels.
Influencing the forming of policy instruments for the industry.
The economic conditions for the industry is strongly influenced by different incentives. We work for general incentives, carbon tax and emissions trading. We have connections with ministries, parliament, government, we write consultations and take part in the public debate. To influence at EU level has become increasingly important.
Spreading knowledge about the importance of bioenergy.
We develop statistics to show the great significance of bioenergy for the Swedish energy supply. We provide information through our websites, publications, conferences and seminars. Knowledge of bioenergy is often inadequate, and Svebio has an important task to spread the facts.
Increasing the export of Swedish bioenergy technology.
Through our close international contacts, we have important knowledge about the markets around the world, not least through the magazine Bioenergy International. We organize conferences in cooperation with our sister organizations abroad, most recently in Riga, Vilnius and Helsinki. We are also participating in international projects.
Encouraging and initiating research and development in the bioenergy sector.
We participate in various research and development platforms, and also implement our own projects with support from the Swedish Energy Agency, for example. We participate in reference groups. We also spread knowledge about latest research and development through our magazines and conferences.
We aim to be the unifying force and meeting place for all companies and individuals who work with bioenergy.
We organize several conferences where industry players can meet: "Stora Biokraft- och Värmekonferensen", Pellets Conference, International Advanced Biofuels Conference, Annual Spring Meeting etc. Together with our colleagues in neighboring countries, we organize Nordic Baltic Bioenergy Conference, an event which alternates between the countries.
Participating in the daily debate on energy issues.
Unfortunately, bioenergy is often invisible in the daily energy debate. Svebio highlights the role of bioenergy in our press releases, articles and when contacting journalists.
