The Nordic Pellets Conference 2024 will be held on January 31 to February 1 in Malmö, Sweden. We look forward to interesting study visits and presentations covering: Market & Policy development, developments in production, pellets use in industry, sourcing & trade and pellets use in small scale.
Study tour 1: Ystad Bulk Terminal
Ystad Bulk Terminal is specialized in handling wood pellets but also handles other commodities such as grain, woodchips and fertilizer. The trading company CM Biomassand the forest industry group Södra are active in the Ystad Bulk Terminal.
The terminal is located in the south of Sweden, Ystad Bulk Terminal serves as a good distribution and collection point to and from the surrounding area – including the nearby Danish islands Bornholm and Zealand. The port of Ystad is ISPS approved, and the maximum draft alongside the berth is 6.7 meters.
Ystad Bulk Terminal has a storage capacity of 20,000 MT of bulk in a sectioned warehouse plus 7,000 MT of pallet goods. The terminal offers screening facilities for wood pellets with a capacity of 100 MT/hour and has a fully automated form, fill and seal bagging facility from Fisker with a capacity of 1,000 bags/hour.
During the site visit CM Biomass will give a general presentation of the terminal and the logistics of bulk products. Participants will also have guided on a walk in the terminal including a visit to the bagging facility from Fisker. CM Biomass will make a presentation about the import and export of pellets via Ystad. Södra will make a presentation of activities in the terminal from a Södra perspective. Ystad Bulk Terminal was acquired by Copenhagen Merchants Group in 2014.
