Heating greenhouses with pellets

Alverbäcks Blommor is growing flowers in greenhouses on the island Ekerö, 20 km from Stockholm city. Håkan Alverbäck and family runs the business which was started by Håkans parents in 1968.

Every year around 29 million tulips are planted, grown, harvested and packed in 30 000 m2 of greenhouses. This makes Alverbäcks one of the leading growers of tulips in Sweden. More than this, other flowers, e.g. daffodils and amaryllis, are also grown depending on season.

Already in 2005 fossil oil was replaced with pellets in a 2,3 MW boiler from Hotab and in 2013 another 500 kW boiler from Osby Parca was installed. The business is developing, what will be the next step for Alverbäcks?
