Join the advanced biofuels study tour - Advanced Biofuels Conference 2022

The Swedish Bioenergy Association (Svebio) is organizing the 8th Advanced Biofuels Conference (ABC 2022) which provides you with the latest on renewable transportation fuels, novel technologies and policy developments. Meet the leading players and experts from around the world, on-site or online, in Stockholm at ABC 2022, September 13-15.

On September 13 there is an optional pre-conference study tour to visit Pyrocell AB and Colabit Sweden AB, two companies located in Gävle that are doers in the advanced biofuels value-chain. A 9.30 departure from Stockholm by bus via Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) and back in Stockholm around 20.00.

More information will come in August but register your interest now as space is strictly limited.

The first visit will be to Pyrocell AB, a company jointly owned by wood products major Setra Group and Sweden’s largest fuel producer Preem AB. Setra has the raw material in the form of sawdust, while Preem has oil refineries and filling stations. At Pyrocell, which located adjacent Setra’s Kastet sawmill in Gävle, the sawdust is processed into a biocrude oil using state-of-the-art pyrolysis technology developed and supplied by BTG-BTL. The biocrude from Pyrocell is shipped to Preem’s refinery in Lysekil for co-processing thus closing the value chain from forest to an advanced biofuel.

The second visit will be to Colabit Sweden AB that is developing a biorefinery in the Port of Norrsundet, just north of Gävle. With construction start planned in 2023, the biorefinery will use patented technology to produce renewable diesel, renewable gasoline, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Compatible with the existing infrastructure, these advanced biofuels can be used as 100 percent neat fuels or blended with fossil fuels. Via a 35 percent stake in Greenbit AS, Colabit has access to a leading Scandinavian fuel and renewable fuel sales, marketing, storage, distribution and support services group.

This is what you can expect

  • Around 170 delegates from 20 countries that will converge and converse on the current status of renewable transportation fuels for all modes of transport in terms of policy, sustainability, conversion technologies and infrastructure;
  • Around 30 internationally renowned speakers that will share the latest updates and real-world experiences on state-of-the art technologies, current projects and future investments;
  • Opportunity on September 13 to visit Pyrocell, the world’s first integrated bio-pyrolysis plant, as well as renewable fuel developer and distributor Colabitoil Sweden AB, both of which are located in Gävle.
