Marko Janhunen, UPM: "Beyond fossils – Exploring the limitless opportunities of bioeconomy"
Join us at the Advanced Biofuels Conference, 18-20 September in Gothenburg, and listen to Marko Janhunen, Director Public Affairs, UPM, and a number of leading biofuel experts and industry leaders.
Why listen to Marko Janhunen?
Finland-headed forest industry major UPM caused a stir in 2015 when it opened its ISCC and RSB certified Lappeenranta biorefinery to convert crude tall oil (CTO) from its pulp operations into renewable diesel, naphtha, turpentine, and pitch. More recently it revealed plans for a possible second biorefinery in Finland that would use RSB certified mustard seed oil as well as taking a position in he biochemicals and bioplastics sectors.
UPM has evolved from traditional forest industry into one of the leading companies producing and developing biofuels and biochemicals from sustainable feedstock. UPM’s Lappeenranta Biorefinery was the world’s first biorefinery producing wood-based renewable diesel at commercial scale. The company is planning further investments both in biofuels and biochemicals. UPM’s Marko Janhunen has been strongly involved in discussions on EU transport decarbonization as the Chair of Leaders of Sustainable biofuels, LSB. How does the investment climate look like after recent political decisions?
