Svebios aim is to increase the use of bioenergy in an economically and environmentally optimal way. Bioenergy is an important part of a sustainable, renewable energy system. Bioenergy is stored solar energy. By photosynthesis carbon-rich chemical compounds are formed as biomass, using carbon dioxide from the air, water, and nutrients. The process is driven by solar energy. When the biomass is burned carbon dioxide is released to the air, and can once again be used by plants for growth. This way, bioenergy is carbon neutral.
